Bank Account (Ledger)
Definition
The tracked cash balance from which withdrawals are made and into which deposits arrive. Each account's running balance equals opening balance plus all linked transactions.
Formula
Balance = Opening balance + Σ deposits - Σ withdrawals
Worked Example
Operating account, June:
Opening balance $620,000
Deposits (revenue) +$86,500
Withdrawals (costs paid) -$106,500
---------
Closing balance $600,000
Interpretation & Pitfalls
Reconcile the computed balance against the real bank statement monthly; unexplained differences mean missing or duplicated transactions.
In TupicFinance
Bank accounts are first-class objects; Pay Now flows debit them directly and balances feed cash dashboards.
