Editing and Improving Your Game
The version the AI builds is a starting point, not the final word. Once you've previewed your game and reviewed its visuals, you can refine it until it's just right. This is where you turn a good draft into a game you're proud to share.
When to edit
Edit your game whenever something doesn't match your vision after testing it. Common reasons to make changes include:
- The game feels too easy or too hard.
- The visuals don't quite fit the theme.
- You want to adjust the idea or focus.
- You've thought of a way to make it more fun.
Ways to improve your game
You can shape your game in a few ways:
- Refine the visuals by approving the assets you like and requesting changes to the ones you don't.
- Adjust the concept by reworking your original idea or description if the direction isn't right.
- Try a different genre or style if the overall feel isn't what you wanted — sometimes a new style transforms the whole experience.
Iterate freely
The best games usually come from trying things, testing, and tweaking. Don't expect perfection on the first attempt. Play, notice what could be better, make a change, and play again. Each round gets you closer to what you imagined.
Keep it focused
While you refine, try to keep the game clear and simple. Casual games shine when they're easy to understand and quick to enjoy. A focused, polished idea almost always beats a complicated one.
When you're happy
Once the game plays well, looks the way you want, and feels fun, you're ready for the next step: publishing it so others can play. That's covered in the next chapter.
