What is a campaign?

A campaign is a themed request for data. Someone — a research team, a company, a community project — needs pictures of a particular subject, tagged in a particular way. Campaigns tell you what to photograph and what to label.

Examples: "Middle Eastern street food", "Traditional regional clothing", "Storefront signage".

Types of campaigns

Not all campaigns ask for the same thing:

  • Collection campaigns want new photos. Your camera is the star here.
  • Annotation campaigns want tags on photos that already exist.
  • Combined campaigns want both: photos coming in, and the community tagging and validating them.

The Feed adapts automatically: open an annotation campaign and you'll get photos to tag; open a combined campaign and you'll be reviewing the community's tags.

Reading a campaign page

Tap any campaign to see its full picture:

  • Cover, name, and description — what this campaign is about and what counts as a good contribution.

  • Stats — how many photos, tags, and participants it has so far.

  • Categories — small chips showing the subject areas the campaign covers.

  • Events — time-boxed activities inside the campaign. Each event has a small circle next to its name:

    • Filled green — happening right now. Jump in!
    • Hollow green outline — coming up soon.
    • Filled grey — already finished.

    Events with a link open in your browser for full details.

  • Scores — how much each accepted contribution is worth in this campaign.

For You vs. a specific campaign

You can always stay on For You and let the app mix everything for you. But choosing a specific campaign focuses your feed on one theme — useful when you know a subject well and can tag it quickly and accurately.

From time to time, you'll also see announcement cards in the feed — campaign news or featured activities. They're just for reading: tap to learn more, or swipe past.
