Goal Budget
Definition
A strategic goal's cost, rolled up from the weighted costs of all tasks serving it — both as estimate (the budget) and as actual (the spend).
Formula
Goal budget = Σ (task estimate x weight)
Goal actual = Σ (task actual x weight)
Worked Example
From the weighted-allocation example, T1 actually costs $11,000 (+$2,000):
G1 takes 60% of the overrun: +$1,200
G2 takes 40%: +$800
Task overruns propagate to every goal a task serves, in proportion.
Interpretation & Pitfalls
This gives leadership a live, honest picture of what each strategic objective truly costs — no manual re-spreading.
