Persona
Persona
Definition
A persona is a detailed profile of a typical audience member — not a real individual, but a realistic composite built from common patterns: age, social role, income level, daily habits, interests, and the platforms where they spend their time.
Why It Matters
Targeting "women, 25–45" describes millions of people who have almost nothing in common. A persona replaces that vague range with a person you can picture — and content written for a person you can picture is sharper, warmer, and more effective.
Real Examples
The homemaker. "A 35-year-old homemaker in Dubai who manages the household budget, watches cooking videos on YouTube in the evening, and shops online while the kids are at school." A kitchen appliance brand briefing a campaign around this persona knows the tone (practical, family-first), the timing (mid-morning or post-dinner), and the platform (YouTube and Instagram) before writing a single word.
The young professional. "A 27-year-old software employee in Riyadh, commutes 40 minutes each way, listens to podcasts in the car, orders dinner through apps three nights a week." A food delivery service sees immediately that the commute window — not lunchtime — is when this person decides what to eat tonight.
The student. "A 20-year-old university student in Cairo, price-sensitive, lives on TikTok and Telegram, influenced heavily by friends' recommendations." A telecom brand learns that a referral offer will outperform a discount banner for this audience.
