What is it?
Run time — TRT in broadcast shorthand — is the total duration of a program: the number the whole production is built to hit. A broadcast producer's arithmetic never stops: the show's TRT is 58:30, the interview is running four minutes heavy — so the clip package (4:00) dies, or the Q&A shrinks, because the total cannot move.
